Creating and sending messages
While most of us use voice mail as an
answering machine, it can also be a proactive messaging system, allowing you
to send recorded messages to other subscribers, at your convenience. For example,
if you are an early riser, you can record voice mail messages and mark them
for "future delivery" so your call doesn't wake up the recipient. You can also
mark a message "Urgent" to be sure it is heard before other messages.
These capabilities are even more powerful
when used in combination with group distribution lists.
To create and send a message
From the main voice mail menu, press 2
Record your message and then press #
Enter the recipient's mailbox number or the 2-digit number for a distribution
list or a Guest or Home mailbox
Specify any delivery options such as Private, Urgent, or Message Confirmation
(see below)
Press # to send the message
NOTE: Once you press # and the message has been sent, you cannot retrieve it.
To review or re-record an outgoing
message, press 1 after recording the message and before entering the recipient's
mailbox number.
If you do not know the mailbox number
you will be prompted to press # to spell the recipient's name: Spell the recipient's
last name, using the 7 key for Q and the 9 key for Z, you may be prompted
to continue spelling the first name.
To mark an outgoing message "Private",
press 1
This blocks the recipient from forwarding your message to other subscribers.
To mark an outgoing message "Urgent",
press 2
The recipient hears "urgent" messages before any other messages except those
in his/her Home mailbox.
To receive a confirmation once
the message is reviewed by the recipient, press 3
To mark an outgoing message for "Future
Delivery", press 4
You will be prompted to set the delivery date and time, which can be up to 90
days in the future.
