Password guidelines
The Harvard voice mail system protects the privacy of users' communication by
requiring users to enter a password to access a main voice mailbox or a Guest,
Home, or Secretary mailbox. Click here for details
on these special mailboxes. We suggest you keep the following guidelines
in mind.
- When your voice mail account is first
activated, you are assigned a temporary password. When you call to initialize
(set up) your mailbox, you will be prompted to replace the temporary password
with a new password. Please do so at this time.
- NOTE: Always make sure your password
is a number you can remember easily but that others will not be able to guess.
We recommend that you write down your personal, Guest, Home, and Secretary
mailbox passwords and store them in a safe place in case you forget them.
- If you believe a password has been
compromised, change it immediately.
To create or change your personal
password, press 4-2-1-1
To create or change passwords for
Guest, Home, and Secretary mailboxes
To create or change a password for mailbox 91 (Guest 1), press 4-2-1-3

To create or change a password for mailbox 93 (Home), press 4-2-1-2

Changing the password for a Home, Guest,
or Secretary mailbox erases all the messages stored in that mailbox.
