Project Manager Duties / General Info
Wire and Cable Technical Consultants:
The Wire and Cable Technical Consultants work with architects, engineers, consultants, city officials and project managers on wiring projects ranging from small to major renovations and construction of new buildings. They are responsible for:
Issuing of RFP documents to bidders and evaluation of proposals for all fiber optic cables. Copper cables, if requested by owner.
Designing the layout of the IDF and MDF closets and ensuring University standards are followed.
Reviewing wiring specifications, change orders and scheduling changes to ensure the project is completed on time and within budget
Reviewing all Dig Safe notifications and mark out locations when necessary.
Stay current on all industry standards and city regulations for Cambridge and Boston.
Assist Verizon and Comcast engineers with access routes, sizing of cable and scheduling.
Identify and Label all jacks on floor plans according to Harvard labeling standards.
Perform site visits, attend project meetings and provide final punch list to vendor.
Review and approval of cable test results
Review stick/engineering drawings and submit to University CAD system.

The Wire and Cable Technical Consultants are committed to providing the Harvard Community with Emergency Procedures for any Fiber Optic cable problems connecting to your network
4 hour on-site response time
Fusion slice for permanent restoration, or mechanical splicing for a quick restoration.
Access to 1000’ of 12 mm/6sm fiber owned by UIS.
All work will be performed on a Time and Material basis
