Pilot Service Policies

VoIP Pilot participants should understand that the current VoIP system does not fully support location information for E911 services. We ask that users utilize their primary Centrex phones or cellular telephone in cases of emergency where 911 must be dialed.

Pilot participants will be asked to utilize their VoIP phones as much as possible in everyday use during the pilot period, and provide honest and accurate feedback to the team. Participants will be asked to complete at least one VoIP Feedback Survey form to help capture the "experience" and functionality of the new system.

Pilot participants may utilize their local Desktop LAN support groups to initiate Moves/Adds/Change (MAC) requests for VoIP. For UIS supported organizations, the Desktop & LAN group HelpDesk may be reached at 617-495-8411 or uis_dls@harvard.edu. Any requests for new VoIP phones must first gain approval from susan_delellis@harvard.edu.

Financial Responsibilities of Pilot participants include payment for long distance calls incurred over the Public Switched Telephone Network (via gateway) on the VoIP system. This rate structure is identical to the rate structure currently in use for the Centrex system.

Individual departments have the right to limit the "class of service" or calling areas of pilot participants.
