About NSIRT

The Network Security and Incident Response Team

The Network Security and Incident Response Team (NSIRT) was formed within the Network and Server Systems (NSS) division of University Information Systems (UIS) in response to heightened system and network security concerns.

The team is primarily responsible for security standards and methods on all systems and networks directly maintained by NSS. These system and network elements include:

  • Central Administration financial applications

  • Master domain name service

  • Multiple mail systems

  • Core network and supporting network/server management systems

  • The University's border gateway complex. As a benefit of this central security resource, we are able to provide related support to the Harvard Networking community in an effort to create a collaborative security environment.
