Intermittent problems with Oracle Financials systems

We have been experiencing intermittent problems with the Oracle Financials system. This affects the Financial Applications including:

Web Voucher/Web Reimbursement
PCard
General Ledger, ADI and Web ADI
Budget Tool
Accounts Receivable
Accounts Payable
Chart-Security Maintenance Application (CSMA)
Capital Project Services CAPS
Cash Management (CMRA)
Chart of Accounts Validator
IProcurement
Electronic Shop and Pay (ESP)

When this problem occurs, users are not able to log-in to Oracle. If you are already in the system when this occurs, you will be unaware of the problem. To enable users to log-in to the system it is necessary to bring the system down and back up. Any users who are in the system at that time will lose connectivity and any unsaved data will be lost. We strongly recommend that users save their data often. We will attempt to give you adequate notification via e-mail before bringing the system down in order to allow you to save your work.

We are actively working with Oracle on a resolution for the underlying issue.

Please watch for our periodic updates as more information becomes available.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause. If you need any assistance due to this production issue, please contact the Help Desk at 6-2001.
Welcome to ICE! Calendaring

All:

The Project ICE! Team is very pleased to report a successful Meeting Maker to ICE! Calendar migration this past weekend. Over 1.5 million appointments, meetings, to-dos, conference rooms and resource reservations were migrated for nearly 2,000 users in our community. You can begin to use the system immediately.

We’d like to communicate the following information to help you both understand the data now present in your ICE! calendar, as well as to help get you started using the new Calendaring system:

Meeting Maker appointments and meetings from May 1, 2006 to the present and 2 years forward will be present in your ICE! Calendar. Historical meetings will show as appointments in ICE! and will retain their attendee information.
You may notice some converted meetings with a notation that reads (DST ADJ). This is to inform you that the migration process has made an adjustment to the meeting time to accurately reflect Daylight Savings Time.
You may see “pop-up” reminders from past meetings – this is normal – we recommend hitting “dismiss all”.
Be sure to set new calendar options such as free/busy, sharing, and workdays/hours.
The Harvard Holidays for 2008 & 2009 have been added as all day events but are marked as ‘free’ time. It is suggested that you edit the holidays to mark your time as ‘Out of the Office’.
PDA/Handheld services will be restarted by 7:00pm Sunday evening. Some PDA/Handheld devices will require a DLS desktop visit to become active with calendaring (contact your Department Coordinator for more information or call the DLS helpdesk at 5-8411).
Conference rooms and resources now appear in the GAL and have an extension of “cr” and “ri”, respectively. They are also listed in a special area of the GAL called “ENT-All-Resources”. GAL names listed in bold are not resources.
In some instances, converted meetings will not appear properly in OWA. The same meeting will always be correctly visible in Outlook or Entourage. This behavior affected recurring meetings where a single date instance was deleted. This will not affect events created through normal use of ICE! in the future.
Your Meeting Maker client will continue to function in “Off-line” mode with a snapshot of your calendar when you last used the system. It provides an excellent reference copy in the short term.
Meeting Maker Contacts were migrated only for users who specifically requested this service. If you would like your Meeting Maker Contacts migrated, we plan to do another migration for Contacts Tuesday evening, April 8th. Please email us at Projectice@harvard.edu.

Information, Training and Support:

Training classes are still available for attendance from our partner, CWD. To register, go to <http://www.harvie.harvard.edu/> under Learning at Harvard, CWD, Computer Classes, Outlook
An On-Line Outlook Calendar Training Tutorial is available for use: http://eureka.harvard.edu/Eureka/course_template/course.cfm?CourseID=73
Jump Start Guides and Training Materials are available for download here: http://eureka.harvard.edu/Eureka/jobaids.cfm?categoryID=190&y=0
The DLS Helpdesk can be reached at 5-8411 or dls@harvard.edu for support.

Thank you all for your partnering, support and patience particularly during this past weekend. Let’s start “getting together” with ICE! Calendaring!
