Basic dialing procedures

ON-CAMPUS CALLS: To place a call to an on-campus line, dial the last 5-digits of the telephone number. PAETEC subscribers never pay a charge for on-campus calls.

OFF-CAMPUS LOCAL CALLS: Dial 9 + the 10-digit phone number. If you are calling from a restricted phone line and the call is outside the service area , you will hear a beep. This means it’s a billable call and you will need to key in your PBN (Personal Billing Number).

DOMESTIC LONG-DISTANCE CALLS: For calls in the U.S. and Canada, dial 9 + 1 + area code and number. When you hear the beep, key in your PBN.

INTERNATIONAL LONG-DISTANCE CALLS: Dial 9 + 011 + country code + city code and number. When you hear the beep, key in your PBN. In many countries, the local number doesn’t necessarily contain seven numbers.

To use calling features

3-way calling

While on your first call, press the switch hook and listen for dial tone.
Dial and establish your second call.
Press the switch hook again, and all three parties will be connected.
If the second line you call is busy or doesn’t answer, press the switch hook twice to return to your first call.

Speed dialing

To create speed dial list:
At dial tone, dial *75.
Assign a two-digit storage code by dialing a number between 20 and 49.
Dial the telephone number to be stored (for outside calls: dial 9 plus 10-digit number).
Wait for “stutter” dial tone, and hang up.
Repeat this procedure for each number you want to include in your speed-dial list.
To access a stored number:
At the dial tone, dial the 2-digit storage code number, followed by # (pound sign).

Caller ID

Follow the hookup instructions on your Caller ID box or phone. When you receive a call, the number of the person calling will appear on the display window, usually within the first or second ring.

Caller ID block

Caller ID block can be used on a per call basis by dialing *67 before dialing the destination number.

To request operator assistance
NOTE: Long-distance calls placed with the assistance of an operator are very expensive. Whenever possible, you should direct-dial long-distance calls yourself. To place Operator Assisted calls, dial 9 + 0. This will connect you to an AT&T operator. You will need to provide a calling card number.
