Calling features included on Harvard telephone lines
Call waiting
No more missed calls! When you are in the middle of one call, call waiting "beeps"
you to let you know someone else is on the line. Just depress the switch hook
to connect with the second caller. Press it again to return to your first call.
3-way calling
Want to make plans with a couple of friends or speak to classmates about a joint
project? This feature lets you speak to people at two different phone numbers,
whether they are on or off campus.
Once you have established a call with one party, you depress the switch hook,
listen for the dial tone, and dial the second party. When the second call is
established, press the switch hook again, and all three lines will be connected.
Speed dialing
No more fumbling with your address book. Speed dialing allows you to program
a list of 30 numbers and dial each one using a unique two-digit storage code.
Check dialing tips
for instructions on how to program a speed-dialing list.
Caller ID
This free service allows you to identify incoming calls by phone number or caller
name. Note that you must have a caller ID box or a phone with caller ID capabilities.
Optional voice mail
More than an answering machine, the Harvard voice mail system is a proactive
communication tool that lets you send messages to other subscribers, access
your messages from any TouchTone phone, and reply immediately to incoming messages.
