Ways to order

For your convenience, Technology Services offers several ways to order Apple Computers and Microsoft Select Program software. Please note that Lenovo products are available for purchase direct through Lenovo only; an inventory of Lenovo products is not maintained by Harvard. To order a Lenovo product, visit www.computers.harvard.edu.

Order online
The following customers can currently shop online using the Technology Services online catalog:

  • Harvard departments
  • Any member of the Harvard community or a partner school who is purchasing products with PERSONAL funds.

NOTE: Because a hard copy of a purchase order is required for departmental orders from affiliates and partner schools, these customers cannot place online orders at this time. However, affiliate and partner departments can still browse the online catalog and then place an order through any other channel, as described below. Click on a school from the list on the left for more information on partner schools.

Order by phone

If you are calling from Massachusetts, dial 617-495-5450. From anywhere else in the U.S., call 800-440-7494. Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST.

Affiliates and partner schools will need to fax or mail a copy of their purchase order to Technology Services before the order can be processed.

Accepted payment methods

For purchases made with DEPARTMENTAL FUNDS, Harvard departments are required to use a 33-digital billing code. Purchasing Card not accepted. Affiliates and partner schools must provide a hard copy of a purchase order (PO).

For purchases made with PERSONAL FUNDS accepted payment methods include:

  • MasterCard, Discover Card or Visa -- If a credit card is issued from a bank outside the U.S., 24 hours processing is required before your order can be shipped or picked up.
  • Cashier's checks and bank-certified checks -- Checks should be made out for the exact amount of your purchase plus sales tax.
  • Personal checks are accepted for purchases of $500 or less. However, if you order online, we cannot accept checks. If you order over the phone or by fax, your check must be received before your order can be picked up or shipped.
  • Cash -- You will need to show your Harvard ID at the time of purchase.

Installation of options

For new equipment only.
Items that require installation -- such as added memory and network cards - will be installed at the Customer Service Center site by a qualified technician before equipment is shipped or picked up.

Shipping or pickup

Shipping is FedEx Express Saver.

When will your order be ready?
In most situations, your order can be shipped or picked up on the day of purchase if:
The item is in stock
AND your order is placed before 2 p.m.
AND no additional installation -- such as memory or option cards is required.

In-stock orders placed after 2 p.m. will be ready for shipping or pickup on the following business day. If options need to be installed or we need to order an out-of-stock item, expect it to take longer.

Where do you pick up orders?
The Customer Service Center is located at:
219 Western Avenue (side entrance)
Allston

The center is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To pick up an order, you need to present a Harvard or affiliate ID and a second form of picture ID.
